Exploring the Role of Religion and Christianity in Alt-Right Politics

This white paper offers an overview of what is known about the sources of the alt-right movement and its present religious dynamics and provides a framework for future study of religion and the alt-right. Author Shaun Casey addresses medieval religion among white nationalists, its role as a mythology-building tool, and how defending white Christian identity fits into the alt-right movement. He concludes that those who study religion must be prepared to collaborate across disciplines with a variety of scholars and activists in order to effectively address this phenomenon.
